About Us

At Jo Kinda – People we construct and reconstruct positive narratives and images of marginalized communities as marketable and consumable products for, of, and from the communities we work in. Using narratives as tools of reflection and empowerment for our participants and audiences we challenge them to “endeavour to succeed”. By creating progressive stories that speak to the cultural and spiritual well-being of the people we encourage critical agency from participants and audiences to positively construct and reconstruct the story of their lives. They in turn contribute positively to their community by becoming catalysts of social cohesion, and development. Through a new discourse and interrogation of our narrative as a youth in the post-apartheid dispensation

Vision Statement
Jo Kinda’s vision is to create artworks and literature that offer reliable representations of the People, Youth, and Culture of the Eastern Cape. By telling and training people to tell their stories in a way that upholds their dignity and character. We are creating an archive of contemporary narratives through research, recall, and creativity.

Mission Statement
To uplift the dignity and self-esteem of marginalized communities, and how they view themselves by reviving critical thinking and cultural activities that can be promoted on regional, national and international platforms.
